Dean Hollin

A professional entertainer for over two decades, Dean Hollin has performed on stage, in concerts, in film, as television host and as emcee.  It has, however, been the music of the Great American Songbook (Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, the Gershwins, Richard Rodgers and the like) that has captivated him like no other detail of his career.  Over the years he has performed numerous musical shows and programs celebrating this impressive and extensive body of work giving details and explanations to audiences along the way.

The Great American Songbook 101 - Dissecting the American Songbook

Every generation has its rebels, and the early part of the twentieth century was no exception! Just about a hundred years ago a few notables decided to break away from the pack, creating a new style of music - a music that is now being referred to as America's classical music.  Dean Hollin will provide a crash-course musical journey as he dissects, celebrates and lovingly explains the music of Porter, Gershwin, Rodgers, Arlen, Carmichael, Mercer, and so many more - the music of the Great American Songbook!

This event is part of the Spring 2017 Speaker series.
