Dr. Julia Zarankin is a Toronto-based writer, birder, and educator. Recently awarded an Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies, she holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from Princeton University and enjoys teaching lifelong learners in venues across the GTA. Julia is the author of the bestselling memoir, Field Notes from an Unintentional Birder, and her writing appears in The Globe and Mail, The Walrus, Canadian Geographic, Audubon, CBC, and Cottage Life. The recipient of a translation fellowship from the Yiddish Book Center, Julia also translates from Yiddish into English.
