Third Age Learning York Region draws its members from across a broad swath of York Region (and beyond). As such, we feel an appropriate Land Acknowledgment should be similarly broad, and TALYR has therefore adopted the language used by York Region itself.

Third Age Learning York Region (TALYR) acknowledges that York Region is located within the traditional territory of many First Nations, including the Chippewas of Georgina Island and the Mississaugas of the Credit. These lands are now home to many diverse Indigenous peoples.

We also acknowledge that York Region falls under Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit and the Williams Treaties with several Mississauga and Chippewas First Nations.

We honour York Region’s Indigenous people, ancestors, and future generations on this land that we share with reverence and humility.
